Microsoft Campus Agreement

The Microsoft Campus Agreement Program is an annual software licensing program created for higher education. Some departments at The University of Alabama participate in this agreement.

Included Software

The Microsoft Campus Agreement Program includes:

  • Microsoft Office Standard & Professional Editions (Windows and Macintosh)
  • Microsoft Windows Upgrades
  • Microsoft FrontPage
  • Microsoft Publisher
  • Microsoft Visual Studio Professional Edition
  • Microsoft Core Client Access Licenses (CAL) (Includes Exchange, Windows Server, SharePoint Server, and SMS client access licenses. No server software)
  • Microsoft SQL Server Client Access Licenses

Upgrades released during the license period are also included.

Eligible Computers

All University-owned computers in participating departments are included in the license agreement, including faculty and staff office computers and lab computers. If your department would like to join the agreement, please contact Sherry Harvey at 348-HELP. Departments can only be added when the license is renewed. The current license will be renewed April 30, 2003.

Faculty and staff in participating departments may also install and run one copy of Microsoft Office on a laptop or home computer for school-related activities under the home use provision. Please note that any non school-related use of this software (including use by other family members or use in conjunction with an outside business) would be in violation of both the Microsoft Campus Agreement and state law. Use on student-owned computers is not included.

How to Get Software

If you are in a participating department, contact your network administrator for any installation materials that you need. You will need to fill out the home use form in order to be eligible for home use of Office.

If your department is not participating in the license agreement, or if you need products not covered by this agreement, you may purchase Microsoft software at the University SUPe Store's computer department (348-0668) under the existing Microsoft Open License Program. The Open License program covers most of Microsoft's product line, including server products.
