Brief Description of Microsoft Campus Agreement License Terms
- The agreement is for a one year term. The current agreement expires April 30, 2007.
- If the agreement is not renewed, the software must be purchased or removed from the participating computers.
- Departments can be dropped or added only at the time of renewal. No department can be added to the existing agreement until it is renewed.
- The agreement covers all University-owned computers in the participating departments, including faculty and staff office computers, computers in labs, department-owned laptops, and all other department owned or leased computers on campus.
- The agreement includes a license to run the included software and the right to purchase installation media and documentation from a specified dealer at an agreed price. Departments and computer support staff needing specific information about purchasing media or documentation should contact Sherry Harvey at 348-HELP.
- The agreement includes the right to use the most current version of the software, any new versions that come out during the term of the agreement, and/or any previous version.
- The agreement includes Macintosh versions of the software, if available.
- The agreement includes the right to run the sofware in any language in which it is available.
- The agreement does not include the right to redistribute any of the software.
- The license agreement allows the loading of any version of Windows on a computer already running any other licensed version of Windows. The agreement does not allow installation of Windows on a computer that was purchased without a Windows license.
- The agreement does not include telephone support from Microsoft. For assistance and information, contact the HelpDesk at 348-HELP (e-mail: Help.Desk@ua.edu, Web: helpdesk.ua.edu) or your local computer support staff.
- Export restrictions apply.
- Under certain conditions, faculty and staff in participating departments may use Microsoft Office on a home or laptop computer. Faculty/staff must sign a home use agreement to take advantage of this provision. Departments are required to keep records of home use. See the Home Use section for further information.
- The agreement does not include home use by students.
