Computer Training

Network and Computing Support provides a variety of computer training courses in conjunction with Human Resource Development. Whether you need instruction in basic computer skills or more specialized computer applications, you should be able to find a class that fits your needs.

The typical learning track begins with introductory training in PC and file concepts, Web browsing, and e-mail. These classes are designed for computer beginners as well as intermediate-level users. Most people then go on to take the Microsoft Windows and Office e-Courses, computer-based training programs that allow you to learn at your own pace. (A proctor is present to assist you.) After the completion of an e-Course, you will take a computer-based e-Test to ensure that you are ready for the intermediate-level class.

Intermediate classes are offered in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Access. These courses are instructor-led and project-based. E-Test certifications in both Windows and the program being taught are required to make sure that all students benefit from the course material. Online training materials are also available.

Specialized topics offered include using the University's central calendar system and Web publishing. Prerequisites, if any, vary by class.

Faculty members can also take advantage of learning opportunities offered by the Faculty Resource Center.
