Applying a Built-In Animation Scheme
PowerPoint has built-in animation schemes that you can apply to objects like graphics, bulleted text, text boxes, and charts. There are three general types of animations: Subtle, Moderate, and Exciting.
Practice: Adding an Animation Scheme
- From Slide Sorter View, click Slide 2, press and hold down the Ctrl key, and then click Slide 6 to select slides that have bulleted lists.
- Click the Design button
to display the Design Task Pane, and then click Animation Schemes near the top of the Task Pane. A list of PowerPoint preset or built-in animations appears in the Task Pane. (You can also go to Slide Show on the menu and choose Animation Schemes.) - Scroll down so you can see the Moderate animations, and then click Ascend. PowerPoint demonstrates the Ascend animation on each slide by showing each bulleted paragraph ascending onto the screen.
- If the animation doesn't show automatically, click the AutoPreview check box at the bottom of the Task Pane. Alternatively, if you don't want to go through the animation of all the slides, click the AutoPreview check box to deselect it, and then click Ascend again.
- Go through the presentation slides in Slide Show View to see how progressive disclosure works. To cause each bulleted item to appear on the screen, you must click the left mouse button or press the spacebar. As you can see, each bulleted Item ascends, one at a time, onto the screen to its final location.
- Save the presentation and go on to the next section on Applying Custom Animations.
